in all scheduled events is mandatory!

Money:
Category A - Art Song
- 1st Prize: € 1500
- 2nd Prize: € 900
- 3rd Prize: € 600
- Günther-Mittergradnegger-Prize for the
best interpretation of a contemporary work: € 1.000
Category B - Folk Song
- 1st Prize: € 1.000
- 2nd Prize: € 700
- 3rd Prize: € 500
Prizes will be awarded by a jury of
internationally recognized choral experts. The jury‘s decision is final.
General
Terms of Participation:
Travel Expenses:
Participants must cover their own
travel costs to and from Spittal an der Drau. Additional travel expenses during
the competition that have not been pre-arranged must also be covered by the
participants. Any necessary visas must be obtained in time by the choirs
themselves.
Accommodation
and Meals:
The organizers will cover the cost of
accommodation and meals (excluding drinks) for participants, with a € 50
contribution per person (see below).
- Accommodation will be arranged in
hotels, guesthouses, hostels, or private rooms, mainly in shared rooms.
- Single rooms are only available for
the choir director and bus driver.
- Accommodation and meals begin with
dinner on Thursday, July 3 and end with breakfast on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Participants (maximum 50 people,
including singers, conductor, interpreter, and bus driver) must pay a € 50
contribution per person.
Application:
Applications must be submitted by February
16, 2025, using the provided form.
Include:
- A brief history and description of
the choir‘s activities.
- A recent high-resolution digital
photo (less than one year old).
- No audio recordings are required.

Participation
Requirements:
- Only mixed choirs are eligible.
- Choirs must have 16 to 45 singers.
- Only amateur singers are allowed
(except the conductor).
- Choirs must compete in both
categories (A and B).
- A jury will select the choirs based
on their application.
Category
A - Art
Song / Required Pieces:
Each choir must perform three
mandatory pieces and a choice program (maximum 10 minutes). The choice program
may include a demanding jazz or pop arrangement.

- The commissioned work by Martin
Stampfl will be provided to participants in early February 2025.
- Participants must purchase their
own copies of the other works.
- Only a cappella performances are
allowed.
- The jury will evaluate each
performance based on intonation, choral sound, dynamics, rhythm, style, and
quality.
Category
B - Folk Song:
Each choir must perform 3 to 4 folk
songs from their home country (maximum 10 minutes of singing time).
- At least one song may be performed
by a small group (minimum 4 singers).
- Songs should be traditional folk
arrangements, highlighting the choral abilities and cultural identity of the
choir.
- Folk songs must be performed from
memory and conducted.
- Traditional instrumental
accompaniment is allowed (except piano).
The jury will evaluate each song
based on intonation, choral sound, dynamics, rhythm, and style.
It is strongly encouraged that choirs
perform in their national or regional traditional costumes.
Participation Fee:
- A € 50 participation fee per
eligible participant (singers, conductor, interpreter, and bus driver, up to 50
people) must be paid by March 1, 2025.
- Non-eligible accompanying persons
must pay € 250 for accommodation and meals.
For the winners concert (Sunday),
choirs must prepare an additional song.
At the „Singing under the Linden
Tree“ event in Millstatt (Sunday at 11:15 AM), participants are encouraged to
perform lighter songs, ideally different from their Category B repertoire.
